Johnny Cash Ten Years Gone

The Memphis Hall of Fame announced Tuesday, Sep. 9, the 2013 Hall of Fame inductees. With tomorrow Sep. 12 marking the 10-year anniversary of the passing of country music legend, Johnny Cash, who was amongst the 13 inductees, this comes as a timely tribute to “The Man in Black”.

With a career that spanned almost 50 years, Cash has been said to be the most influential musician for a variety of music genres. Cash had a unique crossover appeal that earned him an induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1980, as the youngest living inductee and twelve years later, in 1992, Cash was inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Cash’s hit, “I Walk the Line,” shot to number one and remained on the Billboard chart for an amazing 43 weeks. A member of the legendary Million Dollar Quartet, member of the Highwaymen with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson, Cash is one of the only artists to sell over 90 million records.

Even for those who are not fans of the country music genre most would be hard-pressed to ignore Cash’s infectious sound or fail to admire any artist with such a lengthy, disguised career. For the hardcore Johnny Cash fan, or even just the music lover, LIFE and Sony Music Entertainment have published a commemorative book, “LIFE Unseen: Johnny Cash” ($29.95). The book takes the reader behind-the-scenes, offers up never before seen photos and exclusive interviews of the music legend.

The Memphis Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Nov. 7 at the Gibson Showcase Lounge and the book, “LIFE Unseen: Johnny Cash” is available now at Amazon.
