The BMW Group pulled off quite
the coup d'état with a July 29, worldwide launch of the automakers first all
electric series vehicle … BMW’s i3. Three cities, three continents and one
amazing world premiere. The first luxury all-electric vehicle was unveiled
simultaneously in London, New York and Beijing. And London’s premiere brought
out the celebrities in mass and in style. If you missed the unveiling, you can

The highlight of the London
premiere came after the formal unveiling of the BMW i3, at 1:30 p.m., when the
BMW Group hosted a launch party at Old Billingsgate Market. According to the
BMW Group, approximately 600 people were in attendance including, celebrity
guests Sienna Miller and James Franco, who is in London filming “Good People,”
to celebrate the debut of the BMW i3.
The London launch party attracted
numerous International celebrities. Among them were supermodel Poppy Delevingne
(Sister of Cara) and Ben Hudson, lead singer of the Britpop band Mr. Hudson.
Other guests included actress Laura Bailey as well as model Peaches Geldorf.
Manning the DJ decks to provide the musical entertainment was model Amber Le
Bon, daughter of 80s supermodel Yasmin Le Bon and Duran Duran singer Simon Le
Bon, along with Guinness heir and “it” boy Jack Guinness.
As for the simultaneous launch, it was perfectly executed,
with a New York unveiling at 8:30 a.m., London at 1:30 p.m., and Beijing at
8:30 p.m., all preciously timed. By 9:00 a.m., the BMW Group reported that more
than 90,000 requests for test-drives were received. So, when can consumers
expect to see the i3? The BMW i3 will be released in Germany and other European
markets in November 2013 and launch in USA, China and Japan in the first half
of 2014 with a base price of $46,427.
